Volunteers Give Yet Receive

Epiphany Center is blessed to have wonderful volunteers, who serve with us to make a difference in the lives of children and families.

In addition to hosting fundraising events, the Epiphany League is a group of women who organize service projects to benefit clients of Epiphany Center. They held a garage sale on our lawn and used the proceeds to host a Christmas party and Mother’s Day event for children and families. Additionally, they transformed a large living room—impressing us with their budget decorating skills. Now, the room is brighter and more welcoming for Epiphany Center residents.

Epiphany League Service Co- Chair Jamie Gersovitz shared, “It is wonderful to give back, but watching the Epiphany Center clients work so hard to better their lives and the lives of their families is also very rewarding.”

Another group who regularly volunteer at Epiphany Center is the Ladies of Charity, founded by St. Vincent de Paul in 1617. The Ladies organize the Epiphany store, host cookouts and luncheons
for residential clients, and enjoy spending time with clients as they participate in arts and crafts project together. Hilda Barradas, Vice President of the Ladies of Charity, reflected on their project and said, “Through the wonderful fellowship of a shared meal, Epiphany Center enriches our lives. Hopefully, it enriches the lives of the women in
the program as well.”

Neighborhood parishes volunteer at Epiphany Center as well, providing gifts for children and families at Christmas and bringing all of us great joy. Stitchers volunteer too. The Agape Stitchers from Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church donate beautiful handmade items for children, and Jay Duchene leads a knitting class for women in residential recovery.

If you or your group of friends would like to make the world a better place by volunteering at the Epiphany Center or by joining the Epiphany League or Ladies of Charity, please contact us at (415) 567-8370 ext. 4205.
